(a) Remove the screw.

(b) Disengage the 2 guides to remove the reflex reflector assembly LH as shown in the illustration.

9. REMOVE LOWER REAR BUMPER COVER

(a) Remove the 2 clips (A).

(b) Remove the 4 clips (B).

(c) Disengage the 14 claws and 2 guides to remove the lower rear bumper cover.

10. REMOVE REAR BUMPER SIDE RETAINER LH

(a) Remove the screw.

(b) Disengage the 3 clips as shown in the illustration.

(a) Disengage the 2 guides to remove the rear bumper energy absorber as shown in the illustration.

(a) Remove the 6 bolts and rear bumper reinforcement.

1. INSTALL REAR BUMPER ASSEMBLY

(a) w/ Intuitive Parking Assist System:

Install in this Direction

(1) Connect the connector.

(b) Engage the 6 claws as shown in the illustration.

(c) Engage the 6 claws as shown in the illustration.

Install in this Direction

HINT:

Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

(d) for Gasoline Model:

(1) Install the 8 clips.

(e) for HV Model:

(1) Install the 9 clips.

(f) Install the clip.

HINT:

Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

(g) Install the rear bumper assembly with the 2 screws.

2. INSTALL REAR COMBINATION LIGHT COVER LH

Reassembly

REASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE

1. INSTALL REAR BUMPER REINFORCEMENT

(a) Install the rear bumper reinforcement with the 6 bolts.

Torque:

29 N·m {296 kgf·cm, 21 ft·lbf}

2. INSTALL REAR BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER

(a) Engage the 2 guides to install the rear bumper energy absorber as shown in the illustration.

3. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE SEAL LH

(a) Install the 2 clips.

(b) Install the rear bumper side seal LH with 2 new grommets.

4. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE SEAL RH

(a) for Gasoline Model:

(1) Install the 2 clips.

(b) for HV Model:

(1) Install the 3 clips.

(c) Install the rear bumper side seal RH with 2 new grommets.

5. INSTALL REAR BUMPER UPPER RETAINER LH

(a) Engage the 2 guides to temporarily install the rear bumper upper retainer LH to the rear combination light assembly LH.

(b) Engage the grommet.

(c) Engage the guide and pin as shown in the illustration to temporarily install the rear bumper upper retainer LH and rear combination light assembly LH as a set.

(d) Install the rear combination light assembly with the 2 screws (A).

(e) Engage the clamp.

(f) Connect the connector.

(g) Install the rear bumper upper retainer LH with the screw (B).

(a) Engage the 2 guides and 14 claws.

(b) Install the 2 clips (A).

(c) Install the lower rear bumper cover with the 4 clips (B).

18. INSTALL REFLEX REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Engage the 2 guides as shown in the illustration.

(b) Install the reflex reflector assembly LH with the screw.

HINT:

When installing the fog light seals, heat the rear bumper cover using a heat light.

NOTICE:

Do not heat the rear bumper cover excessively.

(a) Clean the rear bumper cover surface.

(1) Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper cover surface.

(2) Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the rear bumper cover.

(3) Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

(b) Remove the release paper from 5 new fog light seals.

HINT:

After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

(c) Install the 5 fog light seals as shown in the illustration.

HINT:

If the bumper is damaged, there is a possibility that the installation area of the blind spot monitor sensor may be deformed and the blind spot monitor system may not operate correctly, so visually inspect the blind spot monitor sensor installation area (frame, stud bolt) to make sure it is not dented or bent.

If the visual inspection finds a problem, check the installation condition of the blind spot monitor sensor, and adjust the installation position of the blind spot monitor sensor as necessary.

(a) Apply protective tape around the rear bumper assembly as shown in the illustration.

(1) Remove the 8 clips.

(e) for HV Model:

(1) Remove the 9 clips.

(f) Disengage the 6 claws as shown in the illustration.

(g) Disengage the 6 claws to remove the rear bumper assembly as shown in the illustration.

(h) w/ Intuitive Parking Assist System:

(1) Disconnect the connector to remove the rear bumper assembly.
